Obama Won’t Commit To Reading Health Care Bill

A lot has been made about particular Senators and Congresspeople who seem to almost brag that they won’t read the entire Obama Health care bill before they vote. Now the President (or at least his mouthpiece) won’t commit to reading the bill either. Check out this almost hilarious exchange I found in today’s press briefing.

Q At some point in the legislative process will the President read the entire health care bill?

MR. GIBBS: I assume the President will study the details of the proposal, and will be — he’s a highly informed individual.

Q But he won’t take time to read it front to back –

MR. GIBBS: I don’t know what his vacation plans are currently. Will you read the health care bill cover to cover?

Q Yes.

MR. GIBBS: Excellent. Well, great. I’m right up the hall to the left.

So instead of directly saying YES or NO, Gibbs brushes off the question with a sarcastic response. I don’t know who this reporter was since, like the Bush White House, the Obama White House refuses to publish reporter’s names in the transcript. Barack Obama likes to say this is the most important issue facing the country. So why is it so difficult for him to commit reading the entire health care bill he is going to put his signature on?

Gibbs didn’t say Obama read the bill or not – does Obama tell him what he reads everyday?

There’s no bill yet for Obama to sign – only proposals. There’s no point for the president to study the proposals word for word- that’s what you asve staff for. However, Obama is a reader – he may have read them after all.

10 Some form of it will. Most agree that reforms are needed. Reps may succeed at watering it down to favor insurance companies – everyone knows how much they’re hurting…

Oh, those terribe insurance companies. They are so terrible and evil. All they did was make America’s health care the best in the world by streamlining payments for care. But what about the child who needs the $2 million dollar experimental treatment that has no chance of working and nobody would even try on a squirrel? Life sucks, folks. Get used to it.

  15. addisonst says:

Why would the president read the bill? He can just touch it and learn by osmosis. If we had the net circa 1977 kb would have been great defendin Carter.

Yeah, these Obama thugs are nothing but predictable. Discuss nothing on the merits, find a “bogeyman” to demonize. This week its the “Heath Insurance Industry”. Again, straight outta the rules for radicals playbook – personalize and emotionalize the issue. If the socialized medicince scheme was so wonderful and what we have now is so, so, aweful then they should be trumpeting the SPECIFIC DETAILS of their wonderful plans! Hell, they cant even speak honsetly about what it is now (”public option” ha ha). What a bunch of guttless thugs!

  17. Albert McDougal says:

I have a way for him to digest the bill. Roll it up like a diploma and swallow it like a suppository, like a real man.

  18. KnightHawk says:

“Roll it up like a diploma and swallow it like a suppository, like a real man.”

I thinking more like roll it up like a joint and smoke it.

  19. jones says:

Or use it to snort Coke.

Uh oh, my name is on a list at the White House.

as usual when all else fails, the Socialists always revert to character assassination and villian creation.

Now it’s “insurance reform” that they’re interested in. “Insurance companies” are the villians. And people who call them on their vacillations and lies are villianized as “mobs” “hooligans” “extremists” “racists” “insurance company plants”.

And the most tyrannical part of all is…they think they don’t have to listen to us…we have to listen to THEM when they come back to our communities with their rehearsed propaganda, lies, and talking points!

We aren’t the “hooligans” and “extremists”…Obama and the Democrat statists in Washington, D.C. are the “hooligans!”
