Health insurance chaos

I am not sure exactly where the Health Insurance bills stand in either the house or the senate.  Let’s lay out where I think we are and start with the senate.

In the US senate the Nationalized health care bill is stuck in the Senate Finance committee.  Senator Baucus (D-Mont), who is the committee chairman, has the odd idea that any bill that overhauls 16% of the GNP of this country should be bi-partisan.  That means making some big changes to “cramdown” and “public option” features of Obamacare.  In addition budget deficit and tax issues are hanging up Obamacare in the senate.  Baucus is the man in the middle and its possible that a huge GOP compromise could take place this week.   Right now in the Senate nothing is certain.

In the House things have moved fast and furious.  Pelosi and her allies were secretly pushing for a vote this week to pass Obamacare without any final committee writeups.  This “Waterloo” option started to look a like a charge by Pickett up Cemetery ridge so it was dropped in the face of GOP and Blue Dog opposition.  Then Chairman Waxman and a few Blue dogs reached agreement to pass a compromise bill through his committee but a final House vote was postponed until September.  At this point liberals on the committee and in the house as a whole balked at the Waxman compromise.  So Thursday’s writeup of a bill that would affect 1/6 of our GNP was postponed or at least I think it is postponed.  The Waxman compromise looks alot the Senate compromise plan that is being floated by Sen. Baucus.

The problem is that liberal democrats have never wanted a partial health insurance plan.  They do not want address the problem of those who are un-insured they want to have nationalized health insurance.  So without a cramdown plan to force folks to get insurance and a “public option plan” to under cut and under price the private insurance plans the liberals will not go for any compromise.

  6. Tina says:

I hope she is not a teacher period!!!

  7. ha ha ha, I am sure that I did math to come up with the US population. Or is it more reasonable that a person would do a quick google?

  8. Brandon says:

It’s common knowledge. It shouldn’t need to be Googled.

  9. Tina says:

For population #s (for any country) I use CIA Factbooks, just an fyi.

  10. lisab says:

well, now hold on … when christopher columbus founded plimoth colony and drew up the constitution in 1863, he did not do it so you guys could make fun of libgirl

  11. I really dont think that is common knowledge. I bet only like 5% of Americans could tell you the national pop. And I doubt its even that high. Far from common knowledge.

  12. lisab says:

    “Far from common knowledge.”

not if you are their teacher it isn’t

  13. jones says:

I saw FDR on TV say just that, lisab.

  14. lisab says:

this is why education majors have a bad name

  15. lisab says:

    jones,

i still remember when fdr came on tv during one of his fireside chats and freed the slaves, during the civil war of indepedence against britain

  16. When will the kids get tested on the US population?

  18. jones says:

stop teaching to the test- Anathema!

  19. Brandon says:

I’m an education major, and I know the population of the US!

  20. lisab says:

actually regarding numbers, when i was in the peace corps, on april 19th i told my class about the battle of lexington and concord — a little culture.

the class asked how many people died in the revolutionary war … i said about 20,000. they said, “20,000,000 russians died in their civil war”

then they asked, “how many americans dies in ww2″. i said about 350,000. they said, “20 million russians dies in ww2″.

so i said, “a.) YOU are not russians. 2.) 20 million people dying is not a good thing.”

  21. lisab says:

“Then the Souix Bombed Custer at Pearl Harbor.”

f’n Souix, i was so upset when they beat the patiots in the super bowl!

  22. ” this is why education majors have a bad name”

I wasnt an education major. I received a Masters of Education Leadership. I majored in history and political science in college.

And, I had a friend that was an education major and I thought it was much more difficult than mine. She had to take several courses in math, science, environmental science, English, history, and core education requirements. Many of the science and math had to be upper level. She also had to do two semesters of internship in a school. She had way more requirements than I had to fulfill my major. I think that is a lot more difficult than taking most of your classes in one or two departments. I have never heard of someone put down an education major

  23. Frank says:

    300,000,000

  24. ” I’m an education major, and I know the population of the US!”

Well give this boy a cookie!!!

  25. lisab says:

” I majored in history and political science in college.”

    did you pass?

  26. Frank says:

    good night

  27. lisab says:

“I have never heard of someone put down an education major”

oh don’t try to get on my good side now

  28. Brandon says:

Well I do have to say, most of the actual education courses are pretty much a joke.

  29. Frank says:

    Any guesses for Rasmussen tomorrow?

How about Economy and National Security?

    Frank

  30. I have to teach to the test that is what my school gets funding on. We also have to give all of our lessons to the principal and on the bottom explain how it will help them meet a goal on the Ohio Achievement Test. I wish I had more voice in what I teach but its just not going to be a reality.

  31. Phil says:

I’m a political science – history – eduacation major and I don’t feel so smart now.

  32. jones says:

No one in Poly Sci told you wat liberterian means?

  33. lisab says:

    “Any guesses for Rasmussen tomorrow?”

obama, strongly disapprove 439 million percent

obama, strongly approve ten gazillion million percent

  34. No, I googled it after I heard Ron Paul speak at the debates. We only learned about the Democratic and Republican Parties. There was mention of a third party (mainly Green Party) but we never addressed libertarianism.

  35. lisab says:

    Brandon,

if you are still early in your classes, try to minor in math or a science.

it will make you 100 times more marketable

  36. phoenixrisen says:

Interesting mood at the Kos. They are really angry at Baucus for the compromises that are taking place. They are hellbent on having the public option/single payer system. They want them to vote party line and ram it through but don’t seem to have a clue that the majority of Americans are against this bill, Blue Dogs are worried about their jobs in 2010, and Obama’s approval rating is sinking like a stone. The Kossacs are crazy enough to be talking about voting these Blue Dogs out in 2010. LOL, that will assure the GOP of getting the House. According to Kos, Waxman kept the public option intact in negotiations with the Blue Dogs so this will be in the mark-up come September. I’m not sure on the specifics of this or if this is verified. Yet the one of the leaders of the progressive liberal caucus are not happy at all with the concessions and indicated that they wouldn’t go along with the concessions. Also, they are talking about all these little slip-ins that require only 50+1 majority votes needed in regards to legislation. The GOP is really going to have to watch for that. However, one thing is apparently clear.

The GOP has got their advertising guns ready to blast away at 60 Dem house reps, most in Blue Dog districts for this recess. Constituents and people who are against this are really going to have to bring the heat come recess. One interesting caveat. The Dems don’t have the 60 votes. Byrd and Kennedy can’t be there to cast their votes should a filabuster come up. Don’t be shocked to see the Dems drag them out of their sickbeds.

Worst case, if this stupid legislation passes, I want complete partisan passage and be able to leave the destruction of this country at the feet of this crappy Democratic party. NO GOP congressman better vote for any of this. NO political cover for the Dems at all.

  37. I did study John Stuart Mill in political philosophy but I never knew the Libertarian party existed.

  38. lisab says:

“No, I googled it after I heard Ron Paul speak at the debates. We only learned about the Democratic and Republican Parties”

as a poli sci student …

    at columbia …

you did not know what a libertarian was …

    mmmmmmmkay

  39. Brandon says:

I have a dual major in Math and K-12: Subject Matter Education(new name for Secondary Ed).

  40. I actually went to UPENN

  41. lisab says:

    Brandon,

the Math is great, you will get a job.

  42. I think economics would help you more than math. And you would get paid more. Just make sure you do research as an undergrad and that will open up some doors for you.

  43. lisab says:

    “I actually went to UPENN”

oh … that explains it … no one in PA would know the population of the country they live in

  44. Jeff G. says:

    LG,

We’re all very proud of your accomplishments, but I do find it very odd that you feel a need to spout off about your resume so often. Do you think your education credentials make your opinions more valuable? Or do you mention them because you assume a bunch of simple-minded conservatives couldn’t possibly measure up to your superior reasoning skills? Just curious.

  45. lisab says:

“I think economics would help you more than math.”

don’t listen to her, she thinks the usa has 439 million people

math will get you a teaching job, and all upper level econ course are math courses anyway.

i took my first “real analysis” course from an econ professor

  46. Lisa said I was a education major and I corrected her. Then she said I went to Columbia and I corrected her.

  47. lisab says:

    libgirl,

“real analysis” is just a fancy name for the philosophy of racist cops … you would like it.

  48. Albert McDougal says:

Can I use a Whataburger gift card at IHOP?

  49. Brandon says:

I haven’t taken Real Analysis yet, probably in Spring 2010.

  50. lisab says:

honestly, before libgirl, i have never heard of a major easier than education …

    i stand corrected

  51. Brandon, I was just telling you what would open more doors which is an economics degree. It will also pay a ton more which will be great if you have college loans. Though Lisa is right a math degree would get you a teaching position if that is your goal.

  52. Brandon says:

Well clearly if I’m an education major, I would be looking for a teaching job, right? Or did you miss those logic courses?

  53. lisab says:

    Brandon,

oh that is great! before you go get a book on how to do proofs, like

    http://www.amazon.com/Nuts-Bolts-Proofs-Third/dp/0120885093/ref=pd_sim_b_4

it will save your life if you have not done geometry in a while

  54. No, some people just major in things that they are interested in or what they think will be easy. Lots of different reasons for choosing major.

  55. Brandon says:

This semester my math courses are Modern Algebra and Probability and Random Variables.

  56. DrJay says:

    What texts are you using?

  57. I loved Stats and Probability

  58. Brandon says:

Yeah, Probability and Random Variables is essentially Prob and Stat, but the school loves making fancy new names for things.

  59. lisab says:

    “Probability and Random Variables.”

sounds good if you have a good teacher.

basically at the undergrad level you can go towards calculus or towards stats.

calculus will help you get a good high school job.

stats is better if you want to go for your masters.

  60. Brandon says:

    #59. Don’t know yet.

  61. lisab says:

    “I loved Stats and Probability”

you also said the usa’s population was 439 million …

  62. Brandon says:

I’ve taken Calc I, Calc II, and Calc III already.

  63. lisab says:

what is Calc III, differential eq.?

  64. DrJay says:

calc 3 is typically multivariable calculus.

  65. lisab says:

#65 if you ever get to barnes and noble, just for kicks check out the AP Calc test books

schools are desparate for teachers that can teach at the AP Calc level.

  66. If you are taking out college loans I would suggest that you have a good financial backup plan. I have a lot of debt and I wish that I would have made better financial decisions in college.

  67. lisab says:

    #67 partial differentials and such?

  68. What yr. are you?

  69. Brandon says:

Nah, Differential Equations is a different course.

This is the course description for Calc III, it can explain better than I can:

“This course includes: vectors, vector functions, velocity, acceleration, partial differentiation,
directional derivatives, multiple integration, and vector calculus. The student is expected to use
computer software, such as Mathematica, in addition to the graphing calculator.”

  70. Brandon says:

#68. I took AP Calc in HS so I pretty much know what it is.

#71. I’ll be a Junior in the fall.

  71. lisab says:

“in addition to the graphing calculator.””

a couple of years ago my hubby bought me a Ti-89 platinum for valentine’s day … you know he got lucky that night!!!

  72. DrJay says:

#70 yes, solid analytic geometry, vectors, partials, multiple integrals, green/stokes theorem, etc.

  73. lisab says:

then calc iii was my worst calc class …

i HAAAAATED solid analytic geometry …

my hubby was an EE student. i had him do all my homework.

  74. lisab says:

    “vectors, partials, multiple integrals”

    that stuff was ok though.

  75. lisab says:

“Calculus: An Intuitive and Physical Approach” bny Morris Kline saved my life

  76. Brandon says:

For Calc III, I had an Ethiopian professor who had such a heavy accent that it made the class 10x harder than it should have been.

  77. lisab says:

good night, i have to get up early tomorrow …

as you know it is the 70th anniversary of agincourt, when the french invented fries

  78. At my school its hard for them to find math and science teachers. So they have contracted some random Indian people to teach. Its horrible. I feel so bad for the kids. I can’t even understand them so I know how hard it is for the kids. It was just a terrible idea to bring them into a school system where so many kids already struggle with math and are yrs behind their peers.

  79. lisab says:

“It was just a terrible idea to bring them into a school system where so many kids already struggle with math and are yrs behind their peers.”

actually if “so many kids already struggle”

    then

aren’t they the same as their peers?

  80. DrJay says:

Good luck with your courses, Brandon. Does your school offer a master’s in teaching mathematics?

  81. ron says:

kline’s heirs should give lisab a commission, as much as she pushes his books.

  82. We have lots of 9th graders that test around the 4th grade level. Its not even possible to teach them algebra bc there are so many skills that they need. The worst part is that everyone is on drastically different levels and we have tons of kids with disabilities. So, they are far behind their peers at other schools.

  83. Brandon says:

I think they have a Master’s program in Math itself, but I’ve heard it’s not very good, so I would probably go elsewhere. They also have separate Master’s programs in Education, but I don’t think they specifically have a Math Education Master’s.

  84. lisab says:

    ron,

it is because he explains how the math developed.

so for example geometry started when people needed to split up grain fields an build temples

when you can link subjects to history it gives you the chance to catch a child’s interest.

  85. See if your school has a 4-1 program in education. It could save you a lot of money if you plan on getting a masters.

  86. ron says:

it seems that education has become more bifurcated in the last 20 years or so. Here in la, they’ve decided to just give up and give kids a high school degree without taking many english or math classes, just to lower the dropout rate.

But the long term problem is what do you do as a country when a large percentage of the population can’t read/write or do basic math.

  87. lisab says:

at the U of I it is exactly that way …

in undergrad there is a special math section for teachers …

but at the grad level you have to take either regular math from LAS or education math from the edu college at the masters level.

the LAS math is very calculus driven

the edu math is stats driven

  88. Thats a really interesting approach Lisa.

  89. lisab says:

    la? city or state

  90. ron says:

yeah, lisab, I think there is poetry in kline myself. However, I prefer godel, esher, bach to see the beauty and ever present nature of math.

  91. ron says:

    baton rouge, la

  92. Our inner city public school system has a 49% graduation rate. And the sad thing is that those numbers are our highest ever. And like Ron said they are just graduating kids to get rid of them and boost their grad rate. All you have to do is show up enough- attendance means you graduate.

  93. lisab says:

” godel, esher, bach to see the beauty and ever present nature of math”

agreed. well … not godel, but esher and bach.

how does godel fit into beauty again?

  94. ron says:

you dont think the incompleteness theorem is beauty? I’m stunned.

  95. DrJay says:

    What about Dali?

  96. DrJay says:

    What about Dali?

  97. DrJay says:

    How about Dali?

  98. Tommy_Boy says:

Right Pundits? Aren’t we a bunch of right-wingers compared to the regulars over there?

  99. lisab says:

ummmm … four is not an martian number?

yeah, really cool … *cough* geeek *cough*

no, i am just teasing. i have had maybe 15 or 20 advanced stats courses … all empirical.

the meta-logic stuff was well beyond me. that is all in LAS graduate math. i am not at that level.

  100. DrJay says:

    sorry… I don’t know why that just happened…

  101. ron says:

see, dr jay, our most renowned mathematician at hhr, just had a godel/nash moment. All great math guys eventually go nuts.

  102. Tommy_Boy says:

    Lisa,

    Love to see you back.

Right Pundits might as well be left pundits, I’m sorry to say.

  103. lisab says:

i like dali’s art … but i am more of a fan of the impressionists

  104. DrJay says:

I like the impressionists better, too. But, some of the mathematics in Dali’s art is verry intriguing.

  105. DrJay says:

“our most renowned mathematician at hhr,”

    (blush)

  106. lisab says:

    Tommy_Boy,

i am just visiting while chekote’s gone.

the leaders at right pundits are fairly conservative actually. the chief is a libertarian, but in the true sense, not the let’s persecute christians sense.

  107. Albert McDougal says:

    What is this-a math orgy?
Goodnight fellow Awmericans. I will do my part and count sheep.

  108. since when is libertarianism about persecuting christians?

  109. ron says:

last year we went to paris were I got to spend 2 days at musee d’orsay. What a great vacation, look at wonderful art and eat like a pig for a week.

  110. ron says:

lg, that was just lisab commenting on someone on this site who is on hiatus until tomorrow.

  111. lisab says:

“last year we went to paris were I got to spend 2 days at musee d’orsay. ”

we went to the louvre :)

we were in the statues of naked people with no arms wing and the pictures of fat naked women with big boogies wing

  112. lisab says:

” the pictures of fat naked women with big boogies wing”

sorry, “big boobies” we did not get to the “big boogies” exhibit, see what happens when you teach six year olds :)

  113. ron says:

yeah, that was what my wife did my second day at orsay. I’m not sure how much time she spent looking at either boobies or boogies while there.

  114. Tommy_Boy says:

From what I’ve read of the commentary though (the comments), it’s dominated by leftists.

  115. lisab says:

all i can say is that i now know for a fact that the ancient greek men were not Jewish

  116. DrJay says:

lisab, did you know mdefl started a blog?
    it is plantfree.blogspot.com

I got to go to the Italy/Vatican in May. Wow, was there a lot of cool art lying around there. They were having a premier or something for “Angels and Demons” while we were there.

  117. lisab says:

“From what I’ve read of the commentary though (the comments), it’s dominated by leftists.”

they have an open policy on commenting, e.g. you do not need to be a republican.

but they really want more cons over there. they just do not know how to make their threads posting friendly

  118. DrJay says:

I went over there, and there were so many threads, I could not keep up.

  119. lisab says:

i am dying to go to italy again.

the last time i was there i was on my honeymoon.

i saw my hotel rom’s ceiling. it was nice.

  120. lisab says:

“I went over there, and there were so many threads, I could not keep up.”

yeah, they need to keep the open thread on top … and keep the other threads for those who are interested.

  121. lisab says:

they often have three or four threads that have less than five comments … before you can see the open thread, which might be on the second page.

but they are trying to improve

  122. ron says:

I’m not sure mccain wants a lot of comments. It seems like its more of a mini-drudge where you can get a quick outline of a bunch of issues in the news. This site is obviously the opposite, people are encouraged to spout off about pretty much anything.

  123. DrJay says:

“yeah, they need to keep the open thread on top … and keep the other threads for those who are interested.”

That would have helped me out a lot…

to have an main thread, and then particular topics on the side; there is a hurricane site I use like that, I think. They are super-strict with off-topic posts and have about 10 moderators I’m guessing.

  124. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

Jobless rates rise in 90 pct of metro areas from May to June; college towns feel a big hit

    * By Jeannine Aversa, AP Economics Writer

  125. lisab says:

“I’m not sure mccain wants a lot of comments. ”

he does, he has told me he is envious of this site’s number of comments.

his site gets much more traffic.

he did not even have open threads until i went over there a week ago.

if you have suggestions tell him in the open thread.

he actually donates 2 cents to the rnc for every post.

  126. lisab says:

“he actually donates 2 cents to the rnc for every post.”

if you are a dem or liberal or whatever he donates the 2 cents to

    life2ophans.com

that was my idea. my posts go to that charity for example.

  127. ron says:

126, yeah, when he wrote here that he was paying 2c per comment, he made a typo and said he was giving it to the dnc.

I can’t figure out why he doesnt pay wissing or make a deal with him to just use this type of setup. He could still have a lot of threads, there doesnt seem to be a limit of x threads per day.

  128. lisab says:

rightpundits is way way way bigger than this site. dave helped them get started and actually made money off them somehow … but now rightpundits is way bigger.

i think mccain said they have 20 blogs now … something like that.

McCain is GREAT at business, not so great at making a posting friendly site.

if you want to make your own threads btw, and are serious, he will almost certainly let you.

  129. lisab says:

i actually suggested that dave wissing should ally with right pundits if he does not want to post so much.

he could use their threads, and let them manage them, and then just post the polls.

  130. ron says:

I like reading the comments there, and I find it useful to get info, since I think drudge is pretty useless most times, I just wish it were more user-friendly. mdefl wrote after you left about how mccain is making money on the site.

  131. lisab says:

” how mccain is making money on the site.”

“hand over fist” i think is the expression … but they have relatively few posters.

just by myself i think i have doubled their average number of posts easily

  132. ron says:

at least double. I used to go there and every thread had between 0 and 5 comments. Now some of them go into triple digits.

  133. lisab says:

“Now some of them go into triple digits.”

i have lots of enemies :)

  134. ron says:

luckily for you, most of your enemies on both sites tend to be clinically insane.

  135. jacksmith says:

LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY. (Thomas Paine)

We have the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed world. Conservative estimates are that over 120,000 of you dies each year in America from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don’t die from. Rich, middle class, and poor a like. Insured and uninsured. Men, women, children, and babies. This is what being 37th in quality of healthcare means.

I know that many of you are angry and frustrated that REPUBLICANS! In congress are dragging their feet and trying to block TRUE healthcare reform. What republicans want is just a taxpayer bailout of the DISGRACEFUL GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance industry, and the DISGRACEFUL GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare industry. A trillion dollar taxpayer funded private health insurance bailout is all you really get without a robust government-run public option available on day one. Co-OP’s ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A GOVERNMENT-RUN PUBLIC OPTION. They are a fraud being pushed by the GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance industry that is KILLING YOU!

YOU CANT HAVE AN INSURANCE MANDATE WITHOUT A ROBUST PUBLIC OPTION. MANDATING PRIVATE FOR PROFIT HEALTH INSURANCE AS YOUR ONLY CHOICE WOULD BE A DISASTER AND UNETHICAL, CORRUPT, AND MORALLY REPUGNANT. AND PROBABLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL AS WELL.

These industries have been slaughtering you and your loved ones like cattle for decades for profit. Including members of congress and their families. These REPUBLICANS are FOOLS!

Republicans and their traitorous allies have been trying to make it look like it’s President Obama’s fault for the delays, and foot dragging. But I think you all know better than that. President Obama inherited one of the worst government catastrophes in American history from these REPUBLICANS! And President Obama has done a brilliant job of turning things around, and working his heart out for all of us.

But Republicans think you are just a bunch of stupid, idiot, cash cows with short memories. Just like they did under the Bush administration when they helped Bush and Cheney rape America and the rest of the World.

But you don’t have to put up with that. And this is what you can do. The Republicans below will be up for reelection on November 2, 2010. Just a little over 13 months from now. And many of you will be able to vote early. So pick some names and tell their voters that their representatives (by name) are obstructing TRUE healthcare reform. And are sellouts to the insurance and medical lobbyist.

Ask them to contact their representatives and tell them that they are going to work to throw them out of office on November 2, 2010, if not before by impeachment, or recall elections. Doing this will give you something more to do to make things better in America. And it will help you feel better too.

There are many resources on the internet that can help you find people to call and contact. For example, many social networking sites can be searched by state, city, or University. Be inventive and creative. I can think of many ways to do this. But be nice. These are your neighbors. And most will want to help.

I know there are a few democrats that have been trying to obstruct TRUE healthcare reform too. But the main problem is the Bush Republicans. Removing them is the best thing tactically to do. On the other hand. If you can easily replace a democrat obstructionist with a supportive democrat, DO IT!

You have been AMAZING!!! my people. Don’t loose heart. You knew it wasn’t going to be easy saving the World. :-)

    God Bless You

well, it was nice seeing you again, lisab. Sorry that you’re gone again tomorrow.

  137. ron says:

138, what a strange post. I sort of prefer kiev girl.

  138. Thune will be running for president

  139. Tommy_Boy says:

    Lisa,

HHR is just too close to my personal preference. I just love the polling stuff on this site too much.

I can even stomach the lefties on this blog whereas I probably couldn’t on other blogs.

  140. DrJay says:

Somebody needs to tell Bond, Bunning, Martinez, et al that they are still up for reelection…

  141. ron says:

the more voinovich tries to get out, they just pull him back in again.

  142. DrJay says:

    hmmm….

  143. phoenixrisen says:

#138 – I would prefer corrupt, dishonest, greedy private health insurers over corrupt, dishonest, greedy government politicians. Why? I can fire the corrupt health insurance company and choose an honest and ethical one. I cannot however fire the corrupt government without shedding blood by exercising my 2nd amendment rights. I only am one vote out of millions in that regard.

  144. Then maybe he can help save network tv from reality shows

  145. phoenixrisen says:

“YOU CANT HAVE AN INSURANCE MANDATE WITHOUT A ROBUST PUBLIC OPTION. MANDATING PRIVATE FOR PROFIT HEALTH INSURANCE AS YOUR ONLY CHOICE WOULD BE A DISASTER AND UNETHICAL, CORRUPT, AND MORALLY REPUGNANT. AND PROBABLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL AS WELL.”

Article 1 – Section 8 smacks this statement down

  146. phoenixrisen says:

Obamacare is dead. Keep calling your congressmen to keep the pressure on anyway. The Progressive Caucus of the House Dems torpedoed the compromise by Waxman and the Blue Dogs. No bill markup which means we’re still stuck with the original draft of the legislation. I don’t see how they get this through now unless the Dems want to pass this without any political cover from the GOP. I highly doubt that will happen with fears of a 2010 tsunami.

  151. Tim says:

Well, I see that lisab rejoined the fray, last night.

Wonder if she’s just driving by, or will stay?

And, yes. I’m sure she’s given no thought to what I’m wondering…..

  152. Tim says:

    #146:
An honest and ethical insurance company?

    You found one?

  153. Tim says:

Ah, so I read that lisab is leaving as soon as Chekote returns.

I wish she wouldn’t do that.

  154. Хорошо пишете. Надеюсь, когда-нибудь увижу нечто подобное и на своем блоге…

  155. phoenixrisen says:

LOL Tim. Maybe I should have phrased that differently. I haven’t had a problem with health insurance before. Never paid for certain medical reasons something because I was denied by my insurance company. Go back to the preamble of the Constitution where it is the government’s duty to promote the general welfare, not ensure it.
