Feherty on Pelosi-Reid-Obama, I mean Osama
I know everyone has heard about this little ditta. Here’s an article on what David Feherty said and some of the response
 http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/may/10/david-feherty-nancy-pelosi-joke
I love Feherty and Gary McCord’s golf work on CBS. Some  of you more “hip” folks may not know what Golf is or who David Feherty is. If that’s the case too bad. Golf on Sunday is what makes the day a “day of rest”.Â
I am stuck in the past-humour wise so when Belusi died I stopped watching Saturday Night Live. Plus when I think of great comedic movie stars its Bob Hope/Red Skelton/Cary Grant. So this slick cynical  humour from Leno-Stewart types  that Feherty is imitating is not down my fairway. To me Don Rickles-Rodney Dangerfield is about as rough as you should get in comedy and all this dirty-mostly lefty stuff is not funny to me. So to me Feherty went too far but not nearly as far as most comedic types have treated Reagan/Bush. So I am willing to give Feherty a Mulligan.
Yes Happy Mother’s day and all that.

if it is ok for the lady at the white house press thing to joke about rush as being the 20th hijacker then certainly this guy ought to be able to tell a joke too
how is ted?
tm is an idiot
tim is a vapid little toady
No one answered my question so I am reposting it…
Question…
Did Ridge ever explain why he has decided not to run???
It seems suspicious to me sinc he very well could have won the seat. Is he planning a presidential run?
Comment by TimVan — 5/10/2009 @ 4:40 pm
Not only that but Obama and the press corps laughed.
So, F&%$ them!
and why was steele there ? to get laughed at also ?
I could care less when he made fun of pelosi or reid or when what’s her name made fun of rush. They put themselves out there for their own self-aggrandizement and they’re all getting what they want but
Where does this jerk get off on making fun of our troops, tho? Implying that they’re all sitting around waiting for a chance to shoot pelosi and strangle reid; how is that much different than what homeland security came out with?
ron, i dont see it as making fun at of our troops. i see it as a poor way of making the point that the troops are not terribly fond of pelosi or reid. to suggest our troops murder us representatives was a tasteless poor taste joke but who among us has not been guilty of the same ?
in my opinion the over under for obama is 10%+ and $4.00+ gas
it is coming up on six months, and if you OBJECTIVELY look at the economy, you would have to say things are worse off today than under bush. of course SUBJECTIVELY the dems do not think so, but that is because the economy has not touched most of them yet.
we are getting close to 10% unemployment and are at $2.00+ gas. detroit is more like 20%+ unemployment.
we are heading towards stagflation
at some point the press will not be able to hide it anymore, and obama’s ratings will go through the floor.
at $4.00 gas and 10%+ unemployment imo obama will PROBABLY (not necessarily) lose in 2012 even with a billion in campaign funds.
Troops have a pretty low opinion of politicians in general, but especially democratic politicians. The officer corps is about as republican as the journalist corps is democratic.
Even though the new GI Bill by Jim Webb is probably the best thing the government has done for the military in 20 years.
at 12% unemployment $5.00 gas
i think the dems get crushed. $5 gas is a killer. it raises all prices.
12% unemployment is not that far away. if gm goes belly up things could quickly get out of control.
however, my over under is
10% unemployment and $4.00 gas
that is where i think obama goes under 50% for re-election — he will still win blue states, but the purple will go red
you never seem to resort to tastelessness, timv.
My guess is to save his job he’s gonna play the alcoholic-fell-off-the-wagon card.
also i think we will go to
10% unemployment and maybe even $4.00 gas in the next year
but obama will have the chance to bring them down before the 2012 election.
at $4.00 gas and 10%+ unemployment imo obama will PROBABLY (not necessarily) lose in 2012 even with a billion in campaign funds.
This would be true no matter if it was Obama or McCain in office.
basically i think the supply curve is either static now or actually moving left
demand is going up
that means higher prices with no growth or even a shrinking gdp
i think we are just starting to see companies close or simply not expand factories/capacity … and they are not doing it overseas. they are doing it here
KOS TROLL ALERT COMING!!!
…YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
“This would be true no matter if it was Obama or McCain in office.”
obama will have a billion dollars in his war chest because obama broke his word and opted out of government funding.
mccain’s under-over would be more like 8% unemployment and $2.50 gas. maybe less.
“at $4.00 gas and 10%+ unemployment imo obama will PROBABLY (not necessarily) lose in 2012 even with a billion in campaign funds.”
You know when the FAR left admits such Hussin has ZERO chance in 2012
“obama will have a billion dollars in his war chest because obama broke his word and opted out of government funding.”
The GOP candidate MUST do the same – just actually be honest about it!
lisab, tina is our designated economic prognosticator. She has worn the crown for a number of years and continues to do an excellent job in the post. Perhaps she needs a lady-in-waiting tho.
taxpayer money fed to liberal propagandist…

see it PAYS to be a reporter as long as you lick the boots of the green enviromental wacko’s…
just another reason why california is broke and will go bankrupt
ron, lisa is superb with math and statistics…
i read an article today where obama is starting to hedge a bit on off shore drilling…
i see gas going to $3 without a recovery and $4 with a “we are almost back to zero growth” and $5 gas with a solid recovery…
as to unemplyment numbers…i confess…i have no clue…but there are plently of clouds on the horizon…gmac is going under….credit card debt has not yet hit the fan…and so on and so on…long term rates are starting to rise…that will choke off any housing recovery…
@11 The Jim Webb Bill was mediocre at best. There is no incentives for our troops to stay. We could’ve given our troops better training while increasing retention.
Instead we just gave away more money without getting anything back.

yeah, timv, I’ve heard the story of how, when courting, lisab’s fiancee would read her sweet nothings from kline’s tome on the intuitive nature of the calculus.

Percentage of those polled who consider religion an important part of their daily life:
42%
the least religious state in the country has given us pat leahy a pro-choice catholic, howard dean the person who single handidly made hatefull campaign rhetoric standard operating procedure and bernie something an out an out socialist…
29- i missed that story ron…
I may have garbled it some as my memory is failing since I found out I was a codger.
btw, timv, the screener that I’ve put together to choose stocks has provided me each week about 8-12 potential stocks to purchase. This week there are only 2. I would guess that this might be evidence of what you’re claiming, that the market is due for a downturn.
ron i kinda like most of your stock picks so far…other than ysi…
ron the market can still go higher as there is still alot of money on the sidelines…if i was still in i would be more of a holder…but since i am mostly out, i am not gonna chase…
morris kline was a superb math writer — for his day. he did not have the ability to create web sites or videos, just text.
however, his books on math are fantastic
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=morris+kline&x=0&y=0
i love the way he explains why the particular math subject was invented.
geometry to divide agricultural fields and create simple buildings
trigonometry for navigation
calculus for engineering and artillery
the man was a genius as a teacher. math makes so much more sense when you understand why it was invented
my favorite book on calculus

ill have to buy one his books then…
i dont like calculus it is greek to me…algebra however i love
and what i really like are riddles and creative anything…
yeah, timv, my students used to just love it when I’d assign one of kline’s books…if you liked my ysi tip, you’ll love intuitive calc.
i solved a stat problem in a way that was unique not anything like the text book answer and my stat teacher was kinda impressed…even though i had real trouble and barely snagged a C…
i kep seeing that blonde in the ad for art institute of pittsburgh..she is hot…lol a cartoon character..well i like jessica rabbit too…
ron,
you like kline?
is your wife a math geek?
I like kline a lot, but numbers are my life. My wife is a psychologist and has clinically diagnosed me as insane because I think numbers explain everything in life. My favorite book to read for fun is godel, esher, bach.
A fresh round of expropriations in Venezuela has raised fears that the Opec producer’s already declining oil output could sink to its lowest level in the past 20 years.

Sooner or later, it will have to face up to the reality that its problems are not a result of bad political strategy or communications, the current most popular self-deluding rationalizations. Rather, the shrinkage is primarily due to two facts about the current Religious Right-dominated Republican Party: unpopular ideas and bad attitudes.
“goel, escher, bach”
ah the joys of modus ponens
you choose the worst candidate in decades, worse than mondale was for the dems … to go up against the dem equivalent of reagan
and you lose by far less than mondale lost by …
wow, 2nd logic related post in 2 days. That’s gotta be a record. In the book, hofstadter shows how math, art, and music are all interrelated.
i think we will be at $3.00 gas very soon
naturally it will hit california first, where it is about $2.30 right now.
at $3.00 the economy will slow down even more. most profitable cars gm had were gas guzzlers. they lose money on golf carts.
i think we get to 10% unemployment at $3.00 gas.
i love the logic of chekote
palin was pro-life
mccain lost
therefore the republican party should become pro-abortion
I’d submit that the worst dem nominee in my lifetime (not counting mcgovern) was kerry, an effete liberal from mass. Mondale mightve been the 2nd coming and he prob wouldve lost in 84 with the growth that we were seeing then. Sometimes parties just throw in someone when they know the race is lost ahead of time…like dole in 96.
kerry almost won …
mondale was not even close
“Even the homeless can’t escape the high price of a night in New York City.
City officials this month began charging rent to working families staying in public homeless shelters.
The policy stems from a 1997 state law that hasn’t been enforced until now. Under that law, shelter managers started to require families to pay a portion of their income, depending on the shelter and family size, according to The New York Times. Residents could be expected to pay up to half their earnings.
Some shelter residents say the new rule will ruin their chances of saving enough money to get an apartment.
One single mother living in a Manhattan shelter tells the Times she got a letter saying she had to give up $336 of the $800 she makes each month as a cashier. Vanessa Dacosta makes $8.40 an hour at Sbarro. She got a letter under her door at the shelter a few weeks ago saying she’d have to fork up nearly half of what she was bringing in.” drudge
maybe you should not live in manhattan
yeah, I know, lisab, but the results are endogenous. You sorta have to look at the opposition they faced. Mondale couldnt have won; he was just put in to appease the union supporters, that’s why he named a woman vp candidate, to ensure that women were in the dem coalition.
Mondale was like a latterday al smith. He was just nominated to get the catholic vote in later elections, and move cities to the dems. That’s why 28 is regarded as a critical election, since the way people voted changed quickly.
On the other hand, kerry couldve won, I think. Pres Bush’s popularity wasnt real high then, I think, which means that he was beatable.
“therefore the republican party should become pro-abortion”
Anger is a powerful motivation Lisa.
#48:
Are you kidding me? The dude is black, with a an Arab name.
And, the GOP nominee was a superior man in every way to Bush ‘43; win or not.
They still managed to lose. It was the Economy. If the Economy had been fine, they might have actually won.
Why does this girl post on a political blog, anyway?
He didn’t go nearly as far? You joking?
The dude is a golf analyst; not a comedian or political satirist.
If he gets fired, it’ll be his own fault.
That being said, I could really care less what CBS does with this guy.
If they keep him, that’s fine with me.

And, he has now apologized. So, the matter should be dropped, by the public.

I will give you my opinion. Ridge knows very well that his close association with Bush will hurt the GOP when it comes time to campaign in the general.
Toomey, in contrast, can campaign against Bush because Bush strongly supported Specter in the 04 primary. Further, Toomey was against the Bush spending early on. Many others followed but he was amongst the first. Toomey will have a better shot of winning the general than Ridge. Today’s polls are affected by name recognition and don’t mean a thing.
Does that help?
Tim,
We know it is only OK to wish GOP members ill. Thus, Obama’s laughing fit at the thought of Rush losing his kidneys.
Feherty is a little too caught up in his own celebrity.
for the record Belushi was long gone from SNL by the time he died.
rdel:
“Feherty on Pelosi-Reid-Obama, I mean Osama”
What the hell kind of title is that? Is this is serious website, or what?
