  1. Howard Dean says:

    I’m in.

Hey, there’s another tea party in Chicago.

    At Sen Burris’ expense:

WASHINGTON–Embattled Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) is cancelling his Thursday schedule, where he was to have met with Rockford area civic, elected and religious leaders as Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) sent out a very frosty statement, saying Burris failed to disclose under oath the nature of his relationship with former Gov. Blagojevich

  2. JulStol says:

If they do it I’m SO there

  3. joe b says:

Burris would probably lose this seat even in a corrupt state like IL. No wonder the dems want him out so badly.

  4. Hellbelly says:

    Rick Santelli is the MAN!

    Finally….the battle is joined!

  5. MDefl says:

Thank God. I really felt yesterday as if no one cared about the incredible moral hazzard involved with the so called “mortgage bailout”. I am really getting depressed over this. I am being penalized for working hard and making good decisions.

  6. Howard Dean says:

The markets have ZERO confidence in Obama.

    Down big again.

  7. Big Joe says:

I heard BO considering Palin for his cabinet? Who’d a thunk it.

She has the qualifications it seems (not paying taxes)

    LOL :) What a country

  8. MDefl says:

    BJ,

    Link?

  9. Howard Dean says:

MDEFL, you can get the FULL story in context here:

    http://www.redstate.com/dan_mclaughlin/2009/02/18/sarah-palins-taxes/

  10. Tim V says:

sounds like this may become a hot thread !

  11. Howard Dean says:

Responding to a survey by political Web site and newspaper Politico, newly-elected U.S. Sen. Mark Begich recently revealed that he had to pay back taxes after reporting mistakes to the IRS,

The Democrat told Politico that he was issued a city vehicle when he served as Anchorage mayor, a routine perk for mayors nationwide.

    FNC

  12. MDefl says:

So Palin owes taxes because she lived in her own house? This is a non-story. Plus, she came forward. Unlike Tax Cheat Timmy.

  13. dabreeze says:

The socialist wing of the Democrat party is going to spend this nation into oblivion.

It’s now the DEMAOCRAT party, led by Barack Obamao:

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2188391/posts

  14. MDefl says:

Let’s lead the charge. I am in! Take to the streets!

  15. Tim V says:

this is what they deserve for being so blatently one sided (the left side)…

    http://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-times-stock-now-costs-less-than-sunday-paper-2009-2

  16. Tim V says:

this is a rally cry ! charge !!!

    say NO to socialism !
say NO to Obama’s mortgage plan !

  17. Howard Dean says:

    Dems don’t need this:

Judge Rules to Release Spitzer Wiretaps

A U.S. district judge said tapes of former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer making calls to a prostitution ring can be made public.

  18. Chekote says:

Count me in. We the responsible people of America need to start speaking up. I have had it with paying for everybody’s else irresponsibility. Maybe we should write to Santelli (good Italian name) and tell him to tell us the date and time and we’ll join him.

  19. Tim V says:

    15- i like the link

  20. MDefl says:

I will travel to Chicago or DC or whereever the hell I need to for my voice to be heard. I am serious. Enough is enough.

  21. MDefl says:

On 11/04/2008, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9,625. Later that night, Barack Obama was elected to POTUS. The Dow now just closed at 7467, a drop of 22.4% since it became known that Obama would be President.

Nice start, Mr. President. At this rate, we will be at 3,000 by July.

  22. Chekote says:

    Mdefl

Me too. And I have several people who will join me. Should we write to Santelli? I am being serious. Something needs to be done.

  23. MDefl says:

    Chek,

I think we should. Enough is enough! I am really thinking that I should just stop paying my mortgage. Why bother when I will be covered.

  24. MDefl says:

Everbody on this board (OK – except the Dems) should be willing to do so. Let’s be like liberals and protest. Of course, we will stay in hotels. After all, we are Republicans. We are not going to sleep in tents.

  25. MDefl says:

I honestly thought this was a parody but it is not. From our friends up north:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090219.wcowent19/BNStory/specialComment/home

  26. sam says:

    From Rasmussen today:

“Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans oppose the federal government subsidizing mortgage payments for financially troubled homeowners, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Thirty-eight percent (38%) think government subsidies are a good idea, and 18% are not sure which course is best to follow.”

    Yet another turkey.

  27. Big Joe says:

“Nice start, Mr. President. At this rate, we will be at 3,000 by July.”

    #23 Dayum!

Anyone willing to short the market?

  28. MDefl says:

Remember when the Dems claimed that the “will of the people” was the most important factor in determining policy?

    Uh, nevermind.

  29. MDefl says:

    Joe,

You think that is a joke? Obama, in just 4 weeks has set up a system that rewards people for bad decisions and discourages people from working.

You think the market likes that message?

  30. Big Joe says:

    Mdel,

Joke or no joke .. if you’re so convinced that the market is going south .. then sounds like a sure fire bet to short the market.

    no?

  31. Phil says:

    The market hates it

    AND

they know he has more on the way.

  32. MDefl says:

    Brandon,

Culture of corruption – broken government. We only have 8000 examples in the last 4 weeks to draw upon.

  33. Diogenes says:

I’ve been shorting the market almost constantly since Obama was elected. Been paying off pretty well. 9000 was the bottom for a normal recession, I suspected 8000 was the bottom for a weak recovery with the financial sector being fixed.

I massively shorted against after Geitner made his dumbass speech. I think the bottom is 6000 if geitner finally gets his act together. As it is, it may very well implode. Obama is causing a great depression already.

  34. MDefl says:

Tax Cheat Timmy may be off to the worse start for a Treasury Secretary in history. His boss isn’t doing so well either.

  35. Chekote says:

Here is a feedback form for CNBC. Maybe we can start sending messages asking Santelli to give us a date and time for the Chicago Tea Party.

    https://register.cnbc.com/email/EmailSupport.jsp

  36. MDefl says:

    Chek,

I sent an email to CNBC. The corporate hq, otherwise known as the DNC, must be going nuts tonight. I predict they will find a reason to fire him. The libs at NBC will probably label his rant as hate speech.

  37. Chekote says:

    Good.

I am going to send this the video to the Chair of the Repunlican Party here in Dallas County. This needs to be publicized.

  38. MDefl says:

    Culture of corruption continues unabated.

  39. Brandon says:

If I buy a million dollar home, will Barry pay my mortgage?

  40. lisab says:

    MDefl,

how do you short the market?

i know how to buy a put on a stock, but how do you buy a put on the market?

  41. lisab says:

if the dow goes down 50 more points it will be a new low since clinton, and obama will own the market

dems had better start buying … 50 points is nothing

  42. lisab says:

that is, if the market goes down 50 more points it will be the lowest down since 1997 …

  43. Big Joe says:

    Lisa,

You could short an ETF or Spider.

  44. Tim V says:

first you have to decide what the market is- dow, s&p 500 , nasdaq. also if buying a put, you need to consider what time frame you want to play. shorting and buying a put are 2 different things. a put is an option.

  45. Tim V says:

    SPX mirrors the s and p 500.

  46. Tim V says:

if you have to ask the question, i would not recommend it ( options or shorting)

    http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui

  47. lisab says:

yes, i like options, they limit my downside to my bet

say i want to short the dow using a put, how do you do that

  48. lisab says:

i think the dow will break 7000

  49. Brandon says:

    Tommy,

In the FOX poll, Obama has a 68% favorability rating, but only a 60% approval rating.

  50. Tim V says:

    here is a link lisab

    http://www.infinitytrading.com/cbot_djia.html

I’m sure your broker could make a suggestion

my advice is to treat very carefully

you will first have to open an option account

shorting an eft will not require that

  51. Tim V says:

there is a dow 100 index, i forgot the4 symbol, you could buy a put on that. i have to run, someone else can give lisab ideas

  52. Tim V says:

DIA you could buy a put on that i think

  53. lisab says:

    i have an option account

i just never bought an option on a market before, just individual stocks.

hubby is really good at picking tech stocks because he is a cisco engineer, so he knows pretty early on when something is going to work or not. he was one of the people who was invited to microsoft when they rolled out dot net

  54. lisab says:

speaking of technology, has anyone seen these new mini laptops that have just flash drives?

my husband wants to buy one, but i am withholding permission because we already have more disk storage space than guam

  55. Big Joe says:

Geez Lisa. I remember the day in Brooklyn in ‘94 when I paid these two nerdy guys $200 to put in 4MB of memory into my PC. That’s MBs, not GBs

I was so happy. My how times have changed.

  56. Aaron_in_TX says:

Of course, the market has nothing to do with citi and BoA posting big losses, or Microsoft, Sun microsystems, Dell, HP posting losses and job cuts.

It’s all Obama and his nefarious plans.

I actually feel a little sorry for Bush now. No wonder he was so annoyed, when he had do put up with this kind of talk.

  57. Eph_Rove says:

    DOW: 7,465.95 -89.68 (-1.19%)

  58. Eph_Rove says:

“In the FOX poll, Obama has a 68% favorability rating, but only a 60% approval rating.”

AMAZING HOW LAZY AMERICANS HAVE GOTTEN!

    FREE LUNCH FOR EVERYONE!!!!

  59. Eph_Rove says:

If Obama gives me a free car, pays my mortgage off, provides free health insurance for me and my family, and gives me $50,000 I’ll vote for him in 2012!!! LOL!!!

  60. lisab says:

“Of course, the market has nothing to do with citi and BoA posting big losses…”

the stockmarket is like the first rule of italian driving … (rips of the rear view mirror) … what is behind you, does not matter

    the market is forward looking

a dip in the market means those that buy stock do not like the future …

  61. Big Joe says:

I don’t know why everyone’s complaining about BO. If he truly sucks and will drive the market into the gutter, then yall should be lining up to short the frick’n market.

    $$$$ easy money babyyyyyyy $$$$$

  62. lisab says:

be careful what you ask for eph

if you have a fixed mortgage and obama’s spending causes high inflation …

he will be paying off your mortgage, because one euro will be worth $100,000 dollars.

in that sense obama and the dems may be out foxing themselves. “the rich” who bought big houses may get them for essentially free or at a huge discount if we get hit by high inflation

  63. MDefl says:

    41,

    Lisab,

The easiest way is to place a short position on an etf. Look up Barclay’s index 500, symbol IVV. Be careful. It is risky.

  64. lisab says:

    Big Joe,

because easy money doesn’t mean much if it takes a wheel barrow full to buy a loaf of bread

  65. Howard Dean says:

    The economy is wrecked and:

On Saturday, Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), chairman of the House delegation to NATO’s parliamentary assembly, and his wife will lead a delegation of 13 lawmakers — plus 10 spouses — on a fine nine-day jaunt starting at NATO’s headquarters in Brussels.

    ….

The huge number of members, spouses and staffers, plus military escorts, will require taking one of the bigger military jets, but we’re told these trips are an important use of taxpayer money

    WAPO

  66. Eph_Rove says:

    DEAR B HUSSEIN,

    GIVE ME $50,OOO PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!

  67. Howard Dean says:

APNewsBreak: Black pastors to ask Burris to resign

  68. Big Joe says:

    67 Lisa,

I’m not gettig it. So presented with an opportunity to make some easy $$, you would refuse?

If you’re giving away $$, can I have some? :)

  69. MDefl says:

Burris is done. How is it possible for the Dems to have this many corruption issues this soon.

A culture of corruption. Broken government.

  70. MDefl says:

What? No spending on Katrina? Where are the crocodile tears from barbra streisand and Brad Pitt? Oh, that’s right. That was only an important issue while a R held the White House. Now? Not so much.

  71. KnightHawk says:

    #59 – “HP posting losses”

    ???
yesterday – “Net revenue in the fiscal first quarter came to $28.8 billion, which was 1% better than a year earlier, or 4% better when adjusted for the effects of currency. The result fell short of analyst expectations.

Excluding items, HPQ earned 93 cents per share, which matched the consensus. “

  72. rdelbov says:

I for one stil wonder why shared responsibility does not extend to those who are getting breaks on mortgages and rates.

  73. Diogenes says:

A lot of expectations about business spending are built-in. The main uncertainty in the market right now revolves what Obama’s policies will be and they are all stinkers.

Each and every single one of them has a handout to trial lawyers. The new mortage suggestion will let judges decide if people can refinance and by ho wmuch.

Lets look at how the top trial lawyers in America are doing. The top-2 earning trial lawyers from 3 years ago are now in jail. John Edwards political career is over.

@AIT: Actually Bush had a very good economy that the press hid. HIs so-called jobless recovery ended up being a job-full one when the bls revised their stats and added 800k jobs, not that the news media ever mentioned it. When the economy was red hot in 2006, the news media ignored the economy again to attack bush.

Even now, we get little real info about the stimulus or Obama’s proposals. Instead the talking heads are in an uproar over the “racism” in the ny post cartoon.

Obama’s media is the most corrupt group of fools ever. Even prominent democrats have pointed out their extreme bias. As their viewership has shrunk, the extremeness of their liberal views have become more prominent. Likewise tv shows have become more blatantly liberal. The ivy-league recent grads that populate most writing staffs have become less clever and more partisan as time has passed.

It’s pretty clear why people have stopped watching. The people who write and develop television are in their own bubble.

  74. Tim V says:

lisab, my advice is to try pretend trading with options first. timing is critical. the price you pay is critical. study and read up first. try it on paper first.

  75. Robert Earle says:

    “What? No spending on Katrina?”

One reason might be that there is still a pretty good amount of money for Katrina recovery previously allocated that hasn’t been spent yet.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-02-08-hurricane-aid_N.htm

So maybe someone in the Obama Administration is aware of that, and thought the Stimulus money would be better, more stimulatively, spent somewhere else.

  76. Hellbelly says:

    Tim V,

My oldest (a senior in High School) and my youngest (a seventh grader) just watched Rick Santelli’s performance today…..i’ve never seen two young people more pumped up and motivated.

The Tea Party Idea is huge…..as I said in post number 4: The Battle has been joined!

  77. lisab says:

    Big Joe,

no, i like my money thanks

but that said people are worried because if the tide goes out all the boats in the harbor go down … even the shiny new ones

  78. Hellbelly says:

….any movement that gets Hellbelly (social conservative) and Chekote (who told Hellbelly to “not let the door hit him in the butt on the way out of the door”) on the same page is not to be ignored.

(don’t ignore abortion, please!)….lets get back together and wrench this company back from the socialists!

  79. lisab says:

    Tim V,

don’t worry, I would just buy one put, just for fun.

i think the market will break 7,000 with a 50% chance

    8,000 with a 25% chance

and stay about 7,500 with about a 25% chance

  80. Hellbelly says:

    this “country” i mean!

  81. Tim V says:

82- ok. the best way to learn is to do it.just dont let the option get to close to the expiration date ( sell it first), unless it is deep in the money

you are a smart woman, also take some time to study a little ( options)

also start to learn some market timing tools like stochastics, relative strenght index etc…

  82. Howard Dean 1/20/13 says:

So maybe someone in the Obama Administration is aware of that, and thought the Stimulus money would be better, more stimulatively, spent somewhere else.

Comment by Robert Earle — 2/19/200

    Like in China, on condoms?

  83. Robert Earle says:

    “Like in China, on condoms?”

I don’t know what that means.

  84. Tina says:

Yup, there is anger out there at the Obumbler and the Vice Dummy.

I can not believe they leaked the secret base in Pakistan too.

    What idiots!!!

  85. Tina says:

Oh, and welcome back Tim Van. I return and so do you LOL!!!

  86. Chekote says:

Santelli was just on CNBC. He said he received 100s of e-mails and he is planning to go through with a Chicago Tea Party. Yeah! We need to do something. I am sick and tired of paying everybody’s bills.

  87. Tina says:

I like CNBC, its the only fair and balanced NBC program and one of the better channels in their line up. NBC is ruined and PMS is just gargabe

  88. Chekote says:

    Tina

We need to let our voice be heard. Enough with the bailouts! Obama is a disaster. Unfortunately, it will take until the end of the year before the majority of the country figures that out.

  91. sean says:

Bravo, Mr.Santelli, we New Jerseyans are behind this tea party 100%.Finally a true voice of the people. God Bless

Things that make you go boommm:

UN – Iran has enough low-enriched material to make enough highly-enriched material for nuke. No surprise really.

  94. KnightHawk says:

Everyone at the office was talking about Santelli and the related topics today, everyone was way more pissed off then I expected. Lots of angst out there, for the right person to take advantage of if they can find a way to keep it alive and channel it properly.

  95. Tim V says:

vote for the chicago tea party here…

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/29283701

  96. MDefl says:

The Kos Kids have not found that poll yet so it still shows the tea party at 95% support. The left must be getting lazy.

  97. Stan says:

I’m in, if those of us who work hard and pay our bills took just one week of en masse we could bring the coutry to its knees.

  98. molly says:

please, please, please organize the chicago tea party.. i will bring california to it .. or maybe a tea party in every major city – same date, same time, same issues… take it to the streets before they take anymore!
please? will help in any way!!!

  99. Tim V says:

    we’re with you Molly. :)
