FL: Romney Leads First Post-Thompson Poll
A bunch of polls from Florida have come out in recent days, but many of them are somewhat useless since they still included Fred Thompson, so I am not even going to bother posting them. But now we have the first poll out of Florida after Fred Thompson quit the race from Public Policy Polling and it shows Mitt Romney in the lead.
PRESIDENT – FLORIDA
Romney 28%
McCain 25%
Giuliani 19%
Huckabee 15%
Paul 5%
This poll was done January 22nd among 807 likely voters.

me first.
Let’s see:
Likely voters…check
Election is next week NOT next Nov (get that Robbie?)…check.
Reasonable.
ABM-anybody but mccain
A vote against McCain is a vote for Hillary.
NO it is NOT. I understand the idea to try to make your candidate better by bringing down the others (I lean to Romney); but McCain is not the same as Hillary or the other 3 left wing candidates left in the Democratic race.
Now, this is very interesting. Not only does Gov. Romney get a bounce, but he has the money to try to make it stick.
Yup.
Very suprised…I would have thought McCain would have gotten a bounce.
Does anyone know why RCP does not use Publica Policy Polling polls in its average? they didn’t use PPP polls for SC either.
Even a third place finish for Rudy in FL hurts McCain since they are chasing after the same voters.
Rudy is toast btw. As one of his biggest supporters, it saddens to type that. Of course, I have wrong before.
I think there is another new poll showing McCain ahead. It should be released today. Sorry, I do not have the details, and it could have already been mentioned here at this site.
Its actually a poll by Strategic Vision and there results are on their website.
Here is Strategic Visions new poll out today:
12. Who is your first choice for the Republican nomination in 2008? (Republicans only)
John McCain 25%
Rudy Giuliani 22%
Mitt Romney 20%
Mike Huckabee 18%
Fred Thompson* 6%
Ron Paul 5%
Undecided 4%
As a Rudy supporter this gives me a little hope…COME ON RUDY PULL THIS ONE OUT!!!
The Mittbots will wipe out the Republican party. They are the same “purists” who said the polls didn’t matter in 2006. How’d that work out for Republicans?
It’s useless to argue with the smitten Mittens because heart him. He tells them what they want to hear and they swoon. It’s like a high school crush.
The general election polls do matter. This has been the most covered election by and order of 10. Everyone knows each of the candidates. Romney has already been pegged as a flip flopper. The media will use that line over and over again.
McCain is the only one who offers Republicans a chance. Don’t buy into the hype of Rush, Laura, Hewitt, and others. Mitt is a sure loser. Rush wants Hillary to be president because it will do wonders for his show’s ratings.
The conservative movement needs a break. It’s out of steam and the voters aren’t interested in another Bush term, or at least what they perceive to be another Bush term. Running cookie cutter conservative this fall will be a disaster.
Hillary will defeat Mitt 370-168.
Thank you Robbie!
I don’t want to agree with Robbie, but…
